Report for April

The Bancroft-Rosalie Power Drive team had their first race of the season on April 6^th in Lincoln. The team ended up doing great and getting second in both the Exhibition and Advanced car. There were a few wrecks and malfunctions at that race and the team has worked hard to repair them. One wreck resulted in a hole in the nose of the Advanced car. One of the malfunctions was a flat tire prior to the race which was easily fixed before the start. Driving the A20 car, Morgan Smith started on the second row, inside position in the first heat. Smith was in fourth when he handed the driving responsibilities over to Easton Weborg during the required pit stop.  The aggressive driving sophomore managed to hold onto a second place finish despite wrecking with Raymond Central twice in the final laps. Weborg commented, “I was frustrated by what I thought was a blocking technique and I probably let my emotions get the best of me. Looking back I need to drive smarter to give my team a better chance of winning.”   In the E class competition Taylor Tietz was the first driver to race. Early in the E class race Tietz was racing extremely cautious, a technique that allowed him to take the lead into the pits despite blowing a front tire just prior to the driver exchange. After the exchange, Morgan Smith took control of the E21 car. He raced almost fifteen minutes before holding off a furious passing attempt by the Wayne “A” car that resulted in both cars piled up. Wayne did not have enough room to pass on the outside and caught Morgan’s front tire causing the wreck. Morgan commented, “I felt like I had a really good shot to win the race. Some driving errors made by the Wayne driver caused a major setback and I got tangled up with them. I felt like that is what cost me the race.”  Morgan finished up the race in second place. The B-R Power Drive team managed to finish second in both cars even with all the complications throughout the day. April 13^th was the Bancroft-Rosalie Power Drive’s second race this year. Both the Exhibition and Advanced car raced in the same heat. Starting in the Advanced car was Carsten Tietz and in the Exhibition car was first time driver, Derek Ahlers. Both drivers did extremely well in the first thirty minutes. At the thirty minute mark Carsten exchanged drivers with Easton Weborg and Derek switched drivers with Morgan Smith. Easton raced very well passing two cars finishing the race in third. Morgan managed to pass two cars also since the exchange receiving first place. The team did extremely well, receiving first in the Exhibition car and third in the Advanced car.  All the drivers involved agreed that they raced to the best of their abilities and are looking forward to another win next rally. We hope to see everyone at the next race on Saturday, April 27^th.

March Report

 

The Power Drive Team has made much progress on our new Power Drive car this month. The Power Drive team has finished setting up the steering system to insure excellent steering performance and all of the wiring is in tact. They have also completed the body straps, axle and the seat belts.  They have mounted the brakes, adjusted the seat and built the wheel cover. With so much progress in such a short amount of time the new Power Drive car will be done in no time. The documentation is still being worked on by the documentation team and is coming along very smoothly. With the new car and documentation being made each person is busy with their own duties in order to get everything done on time. The team will be ready to race on April 6^th in Lincoln!!!

February Update

Much progress has been made this month on all three Power Drive cars. On The A20 car Carsten has installed the taillight and has the car ready for paint. On the S31 car Easton, Carsten, and Mr. Smith welded the chassis together. Easton is now working on the steering for the S31 car, while Carsten is working on the canopy to cover the driver. Derek and Ian are building brackets to hold the rear canopy, batteries, and seat belts in place. Dylan is in the process of taping construction paper together to get the right shape for the rear canopy for the new S31 car. Easton made a checklist saying what has to be done to make the new S31 race ready. The E-21 car is stood upright and Morgan and Taylor are working on aligning the front wheels. As you can see, everyone in the shop has been very busy trying to perfect all three cars to be race ready for April. Hope to see you all at the first Power Drive race on April 6^th! 

 

  
The Bancroft-Rosalie Power Drive team is working on their new car yet again. This month they are making progress on the chassis. They have finished mounting the rear wheel, seat, and made sure the drivers fit perfectly in the car. The car that is being worked on will be entered as a Standard class car. There is much anticipation coming from Power Drive Team for the upcoming Power Drive Season! They all can’t wait to get back on the track! The next progress update on the car will be in February.

Progress on the car!

The Powerdrive team has been working very hard on their Powerdrive car this week. Last week they finished mounting the back tire onto the car.  They are now fabricating the mounts to the front axel. They are putting the seat in place and working on the motor mount. They are also placing all the supporting bars in the chassis. With progress going the way it’s been going the last couple of weeks this car could be done earlier than expected. The Powerdrive team can’t wait to start racing the car again!
