The Bancroft-Rosalie Power Drive team had their last regular
season race April 27
th at the West Point Rally. The team finished
the rally with third and second place trophies in the Advanced and Standard
car. This was the team’s first time racing the Standard car so third place was
a big achievement for our team. The first car to race was the Standard car with
Morgan Smith in the drivers seat. Morgan started off the first half of the race
in third place, two laps behind the leader, Lake View. Then once the second
half of the race kicked in Morgan gained on Raymond Central who was in second
place for the whole first half of the race. Finally Morgan passed Raymond
Central and gained on Lake View trailing by only half a lap in the final
minutes of the race.
The Standard
car ended up getting second place in the first race. Carsten Tietz started off
the second race in the Advanced class. In the first half of the race Carsten
was trailing behind the leaders in fourth place. When Carsten Tietz switched
drivers with Easton Weborg we were still in fourth place but Easton only made
it about 30 feet before the chain on the car fell off. The pit crew rushed to
the scene managing to make a fast repair but lost valuable time on the track setting
us back to fifth place. Easton got back into the car and began to make quick
times on his laps resulting in him passing two teams in the same lap. Easton
was gaining on Elkhorn in the final minutes of the race only one lap down from
their team. Easton finished the race in third place. Mr. Smith said "I am proud of the
team and satisfied with our wins, especially the Standard car, which is a
first time racer." The team is looking forward to seeing everyone at the State
Championship Saturday, May 4th.
